Categories
Berry tree or shrub, Nitrogen fixing plant, Ornamental shrub
Description
The ‘Lord’ sea buckthorn is a male cultivar selected primarily as a pollinator for female sea buckthorn cultivars. It is known for its early flowering, good pollen production, and relatively few thorns. It has a shrubby, fairly upright growth habit, with silvery-gray-green foliage characteristic of the species. In general, sea buckthorns are particularly well-suited for open spaces, hedges, and windbreaks. They tolerate dry, poor, and sandy soils. The sea buckthorn is a nitrogen-fixing plant, meaning it has the ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen in association with symbiotic microorganisms, which contributes to its ability to thrive in poor soils.
