Description
'Wealthy' is an old American apple cultivar selected by Peter Gideon in Minnesota and introduced around 1868. It played an important historical role in developing apple production in cold regions of North America. Recent genetic analysis indicates that its parents are 'Duchess of Oldenburg' × 'Jonathan'. It produces red-striped, juicy, crisp and tart apples suitable for fresh eating, sauce, cooking and cider.
