Description
A very hardy fruiting and ornamental shrub. Primarily used for conservation plantings, windbreaks and agroforestry. ‘McKenzie’ forms a particularly large and vigorous shrub, reaching approximately 2.7–3.7 m. It produces abundant clusters of dark purple-black berries. Although initially selected for conservation purposes, field trials have demonstrated excellent fruit production potential.

Deciduous, glossy dark green leaves that turn attractive shades of red, orange and purple in autumn.
Flowering
Clusters of small white flowers with numerous prominent stamens. Flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. Blooming time : from mid-spring to june
Fruits
Clusters of dark purple to almost black berries, averaging approximately 1.1 g per fruit and about 1.2 cm in diameter. The berries are juicy and rich in pigments and polyphenolic compounds.
