Description

'Honey Bee' is a very hardy, vigorous fruit tree with an upright growth habit and rapid growth. Developed by the University of Saskatchewan’s fruit breeding program, ‘Honey Bee’ is particularly valued as a pollinator for several blueberry varieties, including ‘Aurora,’ ‘Indigo Gem,’ ‘Tundra,’ and ‘Borealis,’ among others. It is best to plant the trees close together to maximize pollination. It produces dark blue fruit that remains on the tree for a relatively long time and thrives particularly well in soils rich in organic matter. Its abundant yield and firm fruit make it an attractive variety for processing. Its dense foliage can make harvesting more difficult.
