Description
‘Scotia’ Elderberry ‘Scotia’ produces small, very sweet berries with dark skin and a mild blueberry-like flavor. It ripens mid-season and grows more compactly than the ‘York’ variety. Recommended spacing: 1.7 meters (5.5 feet). Canadian Elderberry – Overview A hardy and ornamental shrub, Canadian elderberry grows quickly and bears fruit in late summer. While self-pollinating, it yields better when grown alongside other varieties. Its berries are typically consumed cooked or dried and are often used in juices or as a natural colorant. The white, fragrant flowers are traditionally brewed into tea to help relieve cold and flu symptoms.
